What is the Goal Creator tool?

Brolly's Goal Creator Tool streamlines the goal writing process and helps you write effective goals that adhere to the SMART framework. Choose from a variety of goal subjects and areas of need, generate helpful examples of effective goals, and tailor each goal to fit the needs of each student.



How do I use the Goal Creator tool?


  • Navigate to the goal creator tool 
    • Visit app.brollyed.com/goal-creator, or 
    • Select Goal Creator from the Tools menu in the Brolly web app. 
    • (If your district does not have the Goal Creator Module enabled, reach out to your Customer Success agent)


  • Fill out the Student & Goal Inputs Form
  1. Select an existing student in Brolly, or type in the name and grade of any student you like3. Select a timeframe for the goal, defaulting to 1 year from the current day
  2. Select Subject and Area of Need
  3. Choose from a grade-appropriate list of example Conditions that relate to the selected Subject and Area of Need, or define your own
  4. Choose from a grade-appropriate list of example Target Skills, or define your own
  5. Choose a Target Accuracy for the goal
  6. Choose from a list of common Measurement types


  • Review the data in the Output section
  1. As you fill out the previous section, the Output section will build the goal in real time
  2. (Optional) Edit the Goal Name or Goal Text by clicking the "Edit" button in the Output section.
  3. (Optional) Add benchmarks to the goal within the Output section
  4. Before you are done, make sure your goals align with the SMART framework to support compliance and measurable student progress.
  5. Download a PDF or plain text file by clicking the "Download" button, or copy the text to your clipboard by clicking the "Copy" button.
  6. If you selected an existing student in Brolly in step 2, you can immediately apply this goal by clicking the "Add to Student" button. (NOTE: if your district has a data sync set up with Brolly, this option is discouraged. Instead, upload this goal data to your IEP management system and the normal data sync should populate the goal within 24-48 hours.)
