What is Service Health?
Service Health is a single measurement that answers the question "am I where I should be" for any given service. Service Health is a way to tell at a glance if a Service is on track or if it requires additional attention. It is the quickest way to identify whether a student is receiving the minutes they are due.
Service Health is down as follows:
Complete | All expected minutes have been delivered |
Over-Serviced | Received more minutes than expected |
On Track | Received as many minutes as expected |
Under-Serviced | Received fewer minutes than expected |
Critical | Received far fewer minutes than expected |
Not Started | Received zero service minutes |
Not Applicable | Unable to determine expected minutes |
How is Service Health calculated?
Service Health compares progress toward total expected minutes against how far along a service ought to be as of the current date.
Service Health is computed via the following formula:
(delivered minutes / expected minutes) / (elapsed duration / total duration)
This formula returns the percentage of fulfilled/expected minutes so far for the given service. This percentage determines which Service Health value is displayed. The category thresholds are determined by your District Admin, but they will look something like this:
Not Started | Critical (0%-50%) | Under-Serviced (50%-80%) | On Track (80%-100%) | Complete |
Example:
- Alice's Reading Service runs from 10/7/24 to 10/6/25, with an expected 60 minutes per week.
- In a 36-week school year, Alice should receive 60 * 36 = 2160 total service minutes toward her Reading service.
- Assuming Alice's Reading Service has received 600 minutes by 12/16/24 (12 weeks into the IEP year), the Service Health would be (600 minutes / 2160 minutes) / (12 weeks / 36 weeks) = (27.8%) / (33.3%) = 83%,
- This means Alice has received 83% of her expected minutes toward her Reading service in those 12 weeks
- Based on the district configuration, Alice's Reading Service is On Track.
